Default Engine issue, need some suggestions!

Hello, I have a 64 1/2 Mustang with a hi po 306. Recently its developed an issue where when I start it and try and give a good ...BRAAP!It just sputters andmakes a funny soundas it try's to rev up. IfI let the gas go it will eventually just stall out and die. The funny thing is that is was running just fine a few days ago. I thought it might have been bad plugs, so I changed all of them, same thing. Though I had some bad gas, put some new high octane and still the same thing.

I have a Edelbrock 650 for a carb, it feels fuel related but I'm not sure. I havean electronic Mallory ignition, new wires ect. Any ideas? Thanks and great site!

Something's jammed up in the carb most likely. If it's been fine, and now it sputter when trying to warm up and won't stay lit...if the ignition is fine it may be a clog in the 1st or 2nd idle air bleed, the primary well etc. You could try taking the primary boosters out(the primary metering system comes out with it, as well as some of the idle circuit) and cleaning it, also you could take the idle screws out and clean that as well. Blast some carb cleaner and compressed air through it. I actually had to do that to mine just last week.

Man, I can't wait till I get my Holley back....[>:]

Yea, it deffinetly feels like something is jamming up the carb. This is the first issue I've had with in since I swapped out the Holley. I'm sure you can get more out of a Holley but I hated always having to tune it.
