Default Wheels on '66

I bought some wheels over the weekend that are 15x7, with a 5 on 4.5" bolt pattern.
I get them home and tried one on one of the front wheels and it don't fit. I measured the bolt pattern on the wheels about 5 times to make sure and then I measure the lugs and they are at 4.25". I read on these forums that the Mustangs have the 5 on 4.5" pattern. I have not tried them on the rear which is an original 8" from a '66 but I have recently made a Granada swap. Did the Granadas have a different pattern?
Can a machine shop mill/drill out to make the wheels a 4.25" pattern?
Thanks

Nope mustangs 5 lug are all 4.5" bolt pattern. From what I can remember when I was looking at Cragars the 4.25" are for a classic chevy.

So how did I end up with rotors I pulled off a Granada with a 5 x 4.25" pattern?
Weird

You didn't.I'm not sure what relevance you place in the measurement you show, but5 X 4.5" means 5 lugs on a 4.5" circular pattern. FYI, the simple explanation is almost always the correct one.The rotors you took off a Granada (and the picture shows a Granada set up)are certainly 5 X4.5",so the wheel that won't fit that rotor's lug patternare not 5 X 4.5". Bad luck!

So how are you suppose to take the measurements?
I thought you measure across the lugs like the picture above to get the 4.5"?

Ok I found this and it seems the 5 lug is measured different from the 4, 6, and 8 patterns.
I guess you measure from the back of one hole/lug to the center of the hole/lug across from it.
I guess I know now and can do it right next time. Now I need to sell these 5 x 4.75 rims[8D]

This is useful information though. I assumed that you would measure it the way that you did as well. I purchased a set of Cragers that came off of a Ranger, supposed to fit and they didn't. I was just wondering how big I could go with my 65 before I have to modify the car.
