If you are unsure what to buy take it off the car(you will have to to rebuild it anyways) and take it to the auto parts store.

I thought of doing that earlier today but sadly I don't trust the people who work at the local auto parts store. Most of them I don't even think know what a carb is. I don't want to get the wrong information from them and be stuck with a kit that doesn't do me any good. I trust the people on this forum because they have specific experience with this equipment.

the nice thing about having a part in hand is that you can compare the old with the new.

True, but everytime I have gone to autozone or anything like that and I ask for a part for a car more than 10 years old they have to order it. When I had to get a harmonic balancer for my 95 GT with a 302 they had a order it. A part that was the basically the same for almost 30 years in one of the most common motors on the road.

I guess I'll try it out and go up there tomorrow and see if they have anything.

How is it an autolite? It was rebuilt by holley in 78, is there a special way to tell because everything else is leading me to Holley. I'm not sure how to tell, could you post pictures of the differences?

Oh yeah, and whatever one it is could someone tell me the model number or tell me how to figure it out so I can get a rebuild kit for it, thanks.

It's an Autolite because...it's an Autolite, albiet one reman'd by Holley. Completely different carb design from aHolley, easy to tell the difference visually. If it's a 2V, it's an Autolite 2100. If it's a 4V, it's probably a 4100.

Thanks Starfury, after your last post I went looking for pictures. I couldn't manage to find a picture of an autolite which I thought was weird but I say a Holley 2bbl (the carb is a 2bbl) and it looked completely different. I guess now it is to find a rebuild kit for a 2100.

Autozone had it, just picked it up for 17.99. I love old cars so much easier, cheaper and fun to work on.
