I have a 66 coupe with an auto trans and it just started hanging in 3rd gear. I check the trans fluid with motor hot and in park appears to be ok. The car will shift 1 to 2nd and 2nd to 3rda smooth as possible, when you slow down it down shifts as it is supposed to it just wont shift from 3-4. Any help out there????

check your shift points..a modulator or something?

well if its a c4 tranny (which it most likely is) then it only has 3 gears

 

I agree with connor. The stock trans only has 3 speeds.

 

The only four speed stock on a 66 was the four speed manual.

 

Exactly what im thinking..I believe your problem is not one at all but rather a properly workign transmission.

 

could be a aftermarket aod.. but asu all said most lickely a c4, only a 3 speed

 

Yea bud, I think youre tranny is working just the way it should..
