It sounds to me like you have something draining your battery. Take your negative battery cable off and measure the voltage between the cable and the negative battery terminal with the key off, doors closed, etc. The voltage should be zero. If you have a voltage across there you something draining the battery while the car is off. Take fuses out one by one until that voltage goes away. That would tell you what circuit the drain is coming from.

Whenever I get a battery/regulator/charging/cranking/or whatever problem that I don't understand or I cannot resolve, that even remotely involves the battery, I go buy a new battery...!

They are cheap and easy to replace, and if it doesn't fix the problem, you've still got an extra battery. And you've eliminated the battery as the problem. Even if you happened to get a new battery with a problem, you're virtuallyassured it would not be the same problem as the old one.

Over the years, I've had problems like that, screwed around with them for hours, and finally out of desperation replaced the battery and fixed it, never knowing exactly why...! I've found that batteries are weird, can fail in various and intermittent ways, and for the price, it's best to start with a new one.

Good luck...!

Concur with Redhawk. New Batt. Check your ground wires (a must) Then if the starter still drags slow buy a new one.

12.2V is low for a battery at rest. Fully charged itshould be at 12.3 at least, preferably higher. Some of the testunits I work withwon't even test properly unless the battery is at 12.3+. Since you're getting 13.8-14V while running, you know the alternator and VR are working, but obviously the battery isn't taking a proper amount of charge.

Go get yourself a new battery.
