Mustang seats
Hey all,
I am having an issue trying to take out my front 2 seats from a 68 Mustang. I tried doing a search on the forums, but it came up with negative results, or I didn't type the right one. So, if anyone can point me to the right direction, it would be greatfully appreciated.

On a '66, you remove the rubber (once rubber, but felt like steel prying them out) plugs under the floorpan (underneath the car). Pop those plugs out and take off the nuts. You'll want to remove the rear ones first as the seat will rock back when you remove the front bolts.
A '68 may be different, but I don't think so.

Look for the plugs like in this photo. Pop them off and inserts a socket on an extention (1/2 or 9/16", I forget). The nut is up in the hole about 2".

The seat is bolted to the internal seat riser via the seat tracks. The nuts are on the backside of the top surface of the pan....

Also, if your '68 is a convertible, the nuts will be further up in the holes than on a hardtop. Freaked me out on my 'vert when I got under there because the fastback ones weren't recessed as far. I also ended up losing a nut on the vert because I didn't have a magnet. Just be careful.
And once the seat is out, do not try to adjust it or the sliders will get out of whack and it'll be a pain to get the seat back in.
The good news is that getting the seat out and back in is really easy. I did it once on my fastback in a parking lot because I bought something too big and my only choice to get it home was pulling the passenger seat and putting it in the back. Got a lot of funny looks on the way home, but I got the job done!

Thanks all for the help. I got 3 of thenuts out, the rear driver sidenut on the driver door is giving me problems. All of them came out with ease with the exception of this one. I got the socket on the nut, but when I turn it, it appears as ifthe whole bolt is turning as well. Any ideas on this?
Thanks a mil!

In the photo below, you can see the seat track, and the bolt which extends down into the floor pan. This is the bolt that is spinning. It has come loose within the frame of the seat track. See if you can slide the seat so you can get close to the top of this bolt, and jamb a flat bladed screwdriver or anything else in there to wedge it so it will stop spinning while you turn. Probably a 2 person job.
