holy pcv!!!!!
hey all i have a 65, built 289,dual quad, roller rockers, old school cal-custom valve covers.my problem is oil leakage thru the breather caps.i tried adding gaskets, new gromets etc.the covers dont have baffles.my question is,do i need pcv to eliminate my oil leak or do i just need to fab some baffles.the oil seepage is enough to cause probs, but i really want to keep the look of the old school covers.im just baffled no pun thanks al
Does it leak all the time or just at high rpm? A friend of mine had an s-10 with a 11to1 comp. 350 that would blow oil out the dipstick tube at high rpm. He switched to circle track valve covers that had dual breathers and the problem went away.
You need a funcitonal pcv system. Without one, you're blowing all of the crankcase gases out the breathers, not to mention the crud building up in your crankcase that should be sucked into the intake and reburned. There is no reason not to run a pcv valve.
Your PCV system will suck in some of the oil, but it isn't your solution.
You need the baffles. The oil is just splashing in the right spot. I don't run PCV systems on my toys, and they don't suffer one bit.

If you drive the car regularly I'd get a pcv. A pcv on one valve cover and a breather on the other. The pcv will evacuate all the craproducts of combustion out of the crankcase and help the oil and block last longer. You do need baffles though
