That sounds like a fun swap. I'm sure some sort of shock tower modifications are in store. This should be an interesting thread.

Man you're brave, just looked under the hood of my buddy's 98 cobra the other day and MAN that is one wide engine!! I know you can in the 67-69 with coilovers and modded shock towers but not sure about the 65-66 models.

I'll be watching this thread also!!

Check out this website. It is

www.karkraft.com

Now, if I am not mistaken, that is the name of the company that modified the 429 Boss Mustangs back in the day. I don't know if this is the same bunch, but they have some really neat pieces. The adapters that allow you to run carburator manifolds on the 4.6 is a particularly neat piece.

Sure it is a major step backwards in technology, but I think it would just be too cool for school to have a multi-carbed 4.6. But thats just me.

All you need to do is notch your shock towers, or buy some different ones already prepared for it. I know NPD sells them and I think CJ Pony Parts carry them too. Then you will have to get some different motor mounts obviously. After that the engine will fit, I don't know how the trans will come up underneath but you will more than likely get a custom driveshaft made. For the rest I imagine you could use JamesW's website for an EFI swap, make it comform a little to your mod motor.

Hope you have alot of money and can weld youll have to cut out the shock towers and change the whole front suspension.Or sell the mod motor and build a nasty small block.Id use this http://www.griggsracing.com/index.ph...1025_2025_3415 over the mustang 2 kit doesnt mess up the handling.

For a 65 you will need a Mustang 2 front end (from Heidt's or Rod and Custom) or the Griggs. I don't think you can notch the towers enough on a 65 to fit in a 4.6. You also need therack and pinion on the front of the crossmember to usethe rear sump panon the 4.6 (or buy a front sump pan from Canton). It is a lot of work and cost - about $2000 for the front end kit (the best deal on the Heidt'sis from Tim's Hot Rod Shopin Wash state - 'ibuildm' on ebay). It does open up the engine bay and a 4.6 motor looks nice in there. Personally, if I were doing that (which I am) I wouldn't do all that work for a SOHC. A DOHC looks so much better and you get aLOT more performance. Check out this link: http://www.reenmachine.com/67_conv_2006.phpand pictures at http://www.reenmachine.com/albums/in...ng_convertible

Here are some pics of my engine bay with the Heidt's and a 4.6 DOHC (the mock up motor) to give you an idea of what you're getting into:
