Torque Box installation question.
I have finally repaired the rear of the front driver side frame rails on my 68 fastback. I have just welded the floor support in place and I am ready to install the torque box. The problem is, I can not figure out how to get the torque box in place. It has a large tab that attaches to the bottom of the frame rail, so I assume it has to go in from the bottom. It also has a tab that welds to the top of the frame rail. I can not imagine pushing the rocker panel out far enough to allow the torque box to slide into place.
Do I need to bend the upper tab on the torque box or drill out some of its spot welds to allow it to slide in place?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Slit the toe board extension so the top tab slides up an in place. Then weld it to the rocker and do a couple plug welds through the floor.

You can use the weight of the car onto a jack stand to 'hammer' the box into place since it should be a nice tight fit.

dodgestang, Thanks for the response and the pictures.
The toe board is not a problem because I have cut what was left of it out. I have access to the rocker panel and frame rail from above and below. The problem is when I try to install the torque box from below, I can not get the torque box tab that fits on the top side of the frame rail to get around the top part of the frame rail that bends out.

I had to trim one of the tabs on both boxes to install. I also removed the portion of the floor board. I didn't like having those two pieces of metal sandwitched together like that. I realize the car is welded like that through out but that was the issue with my floor pans to begin with. The PO welded a new floor pan over the existing and they both rusted out worse with the water between the two.
