Hey guys, just wanted to see if anyone knew what the maximum backspacing for the rear was for a 65 Mustang? I know the best way to find out is to measure but I broke my leg and am homebound for the next couple of months and my car is over at my dad's place. I plan on running either 17" or 16" wheels.

 

Is the stock rear end? Which one? What size are the wheels (i.e. 17" x 8"). You might need to use spacers.

I just bought a set of Coys wheels (eleanor style) for my 67. 17x8 with 4.75" backspacing. Good price and an awesome wheel. No spacers needed. These were made to fit our mustangs. Some others have 4.5" on 17x8, this will make the wheel sit 1/4" out from the hub compared to the Coys.

 

Well, I would like to go atleast 17 or 16 x 9.

I have a 5 1/2 leaf mid eye set-up and a 9 inch from a 79 Versallies. I've got 620s up front cut down one full coil. Up front I'll go 16 or 17x8or7
