Paint and body!!!!
Dust will be the biggest problem. I second the pay the cheap job with all the fine prep work yourself. Like tinted windows - it really is best left up to someone who know what they are doing and have the right eqiuipment. I am real DIY guy - but i would yield on this one.
OR
IF you have a friend in the military and a base nearby - the auto hobby shop generally has a paint booth! And equipment! Cheap! That is how i painted by 86'. My buddy sprayed (because he was 'USAF Paint Shop Guy').

Hey Dave,
Ill Paint mine before then if all goes well with the rest of the build.
May try the lacquer on a few pieces and post some picts.
The idea of the clear coat over the flat black One guy posted thu me off this morning.
If you put a glossy clear over the flat it wont be flat anymore.
Unless im missing something there.
I have my front fender I painted over 7 years ago playing around @ work one day in Black ppg
It still looks deeper and glossier than my 2007 DTS black Caddy paint does lol

ive been looking into doing a paint job myself for a while now. It doesn't seem totohard and if your notgoing for a show car finish like me who cars if its not spot on in a couple places.Do you have a place to paint with good ventalation? I ask because i used to work in a detail shop and i know that theres certain (metal) cleaning products ,if there in the air, they cause fish eyeing in the paint and such. Also the black with flat black is a bad *** look, personally id do the boss strips with flat black hood.
Be very careful with modern enamels, eurethanes and clear coats. Most contain isocyanates and if you don't have the right respirator and ventilation, that stuff will kill you (I know first hand, though I'm not dead yet).
Books arent bad but try Paintucation dvd. vcr from eastwood I have that one I picked up years agp it gives some good instructions.
BTW the guy that does it is the new guy on trucks tv show now. He has lost the mullet.lol

We finished painting the Mach1 a couple weeks ago. The body work is pretty good. We are going to color sand an polish this weekend. A friend of mine sprayed it and helped/taught me the body work. We used base/clear and it is great and very forgiving. Prep work is 99.9% of what makes it look good.
