Has anyone used the cowl vents in the '70 mustang for cold air feeds?

errr. that should have read headlight bucket - not cowl. DOH. Can a moderator change the title please?

the two slits near the headlight bucket are supposed to be used for cooling the brakes

There are plastic blanks over them, how do they cool the brakes?
