I know this might seem a bitpicky - but, I don't want to screw this up - I have learned that type 4 auto transmission is the correct type to use in an "older Ford" - I own a 66/289 mustang with a C4 auto transmission and "power assist" steering- my original owners manual spec is calling for M2C33D - every type 4 that I have seen advertised says that their transmission fluid is compatible to spec M2C33F or G - can I use a type F if it calls for these letters and not the D? - why don't they include the D? - also, my owner's manual calls for the same spec transmission fluid to be used as power steering fluid - can I do this? - or should I use a good quality power steering fluid? - like Prestone All Milage, With Conditioner.
I use type "F" in my C6 and the FMX trannys in my stangs. I also use the same, type "F" in the power steering units. No problems here. Once in a while, I need to use a power steering seal conditioner to help with some of the minor leaks (found out that Lucas PS fluid works best here). If you are concerned then go with a high quality type F fluid like royal purple or amsol. I guess they sell type F.
