Wondering about value.
I hope this is the right place for this post. My wife and I are currently looking at a 67 V-8 coupe that my wife's co-worker is looking to sell. It has decent red paint, black interior and is generally in good shape. The motor has all the usual things that get bolted on like header's and aftermarket intake and carb. Seems like the camshaft is non-stock also. I am wondering what a good ball park figure would be for this car. She is asking 7500 for it. I think this might be a good deal for a running and driving V-8 car. Thanks for any advice in advance.
Take a real good look at the known problem areas, cowl, floor pans, trunk floor, frame rails, etc.
The price doesn't seem bad if the above mentioned areas are good. Also, try to find out as much as possible about what components are in the engine.

PICS HELP!!!
Ask to pour a gallon of water down the cowl. make sure it doesnt leak into the car. check frame rails thoroughly, and hold a magnet next to the wheelwells (just cause theyre common areas for rust) to see if it sticks or if there is bondo.

Some pics and a little more info would help.I would definitely check the frame rails, torque boxes, floor pans, cowl area, etc. Also having the VIN would help you decipher it and see what the car actually came with and would give a clearer picture of true value.Good Luck ![8D]
As everyone has said rust is the big buggaboo. These cars were very prone to the tin worm. 7,500 is dangerous money because it's more than a little yet not enough to really buy piece of mind.
Drive the car, ask a lot of questions and don't be afraid to lie on your back and check out the underside. Look for holes, patches, weak spots and rusty nuts and bolts that a wrench won't fit on. The water down the cowl is an A+ idea. I think the fact that the seller is your Wife's co-worker should work in your favor. Offer her 6,500 if you like the car. 6,000 if you can wave cash in her face.
Good luck and let us know what you decide.
(I once went to look at a truck with my old boss. It seemed like a decent truck at a decent price but details like that never mattered to my boss. He walked around the thing a few times, picking it apart for every little flaw and making all kinds of faces. Finally the seller exploded and said " IT'S NOT FOR SALE! IT'S NOT FOR SALE ANYMORE! I WON'T SELL IT TO YOU! I WOULD NEVER SELL IT TO YOU! YOU CAN"T BUY IT! My boss looked at the guy and told him he was glad the man had come to his senses. I was laughing so hard I don't even remember leaving.)

you know I hate ****** like that to be quite honest. Usually they are cheap bastards who pick every little flaw apart on the car to knock off as much cash as possible. I could understand this if you were buying a classic for over 30k but for an old pickup gimme a break! But with that said its still funny your boss did that. Good story because it make me laugh and get angry!
I paid $7,500 for this one, which was more than it was actually worth to most people. The point is this particular car was worth $7,500 to me but I would guess most guys here would havegone maybe $4,500 to $6,500 on it.

Well ... again as some people said the car is worth just as much as you are willing to pay for it ...
Just did somethign crazy and bought a 3rd classic mustang a couple of weeks ago ...it is a 67GT with a rather new paint job and a bunch of other things ... all documentation since 1967!!! I am only the 3rd owner ... so that to me is worth quite some money ... I paid 10 K$ for it and thought that was a rather really really good deal IMO
