Default wiring question for HEI

I put an HEI distributor in my car and was wondering was is the best way to wire it. I also have a 1 wire altenator, so the voltage regulator has been deleted. Also I can not find the neutral safety switch, or at least the 4 prong connector that is shown in the wiring diagrams. I do have a 2 prong connector where the 3 speed transmission was in the tunnel. I switched to a 5 speed manual. Can some one please help, the wiring portion of this is driving me crazy.

can you give some more information like how you have it wired, a picture of the wiring diagrams/instructions in question and so forth. I am sure I could help with more info.

Wire the HEI to the mfrs recommendations, typically is will use the S terminal of the alternator for +12Vdc. The alternator uses one wire from the batt + ( usually from the battery side of the solonoid) to the alt output wire. Stick shift cars have a different neutral switch that is mounted on the trans linkage. I would jumper the 2 prong plug on the firewall to bypass it if you can't finda switchattached to the linkage.

The HEI will need a clean 12 volts from the ignition switch. Make sure that the resistor wire or ballast resistor have been removed from the existing igniting circuit and everything will work fine.

The one wire alternator will require that the one wire goes straight to the positive terminal of the battery, or as already stated, ideally,to the big post on the battery side of the solenoid.
