Default Axles

I am thinking about swaping my I6 for a V6 out of a later model. Would i have to change out the axles or anything. Also can i keep the car 4 lug or would i have to go 5 lug?

Thanks, Jake

An I6 in a 60's stang to a late model v-6 mustang motor swap??? is that what you mean??.... just swap in a v-8 if that's the case...it'll be quicker and have the same power out put with more potential in the end ....if you change your mind as far as motor swaps..I'd install a v-8 rear 8 inch bare minumuim with accompanying axles

Yeah i am getting the engine out of a junkyard. Thought about the I6 to V6 swap because i have enough money to do it. Its cheap to buy the parts for the swap. If i cant find a V6 i will go with the V8.

Ok on that rear end are you talking about something like this? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/MUSTA...spagenameZWDVW

Not a axle person. Dont know much of anything when it comes down to that stuff.

V6 in a classic Pony, sounds like a cool project. Can you use the original I6 rear end, yes. Should you, probably not. If I were you I would upgrade to 5 bolt all the way around for better stopping power. what year did you say your car was?? The rear end you have linked is a late model 8.8 and is a good unit but will most likely need to be modified to fit in your car. Depending on the year of your car a original type 8" can be found on a verity of donor cars.

My car is a 67. I can use an engine from any Ford car couldnt I? Like a thunderbird, galaxie, or falcon.
Well i got bored and went and decoded my car and it has 3.20 gears in the rear. Was wondering if that was the gear ratio used in the I6's.[/blockquote]
