Some test drive questions
Have been test driving a stang that have just re-resurrected after some hibernation.
Two things:
1. It suddenly dies on me and fuel delivery seems to be working but the engine seems like there is a sudden cut-off in fuel. it is pumping fuel to the engine but just dies. Could that be a stuck float? Should i just keep running the engine so the float resumes normal operation? it just got a new fuel pump and lines so i have seen it actually pump fuel up. Also this is the third time it has done it in two weeks. personally dont want to overhaul the carb since it has been before and it is a 2bbl. am just waiting for an intake to convert to 4bbl.
2. brakes disappearing. it was working fine but when it stalls it disappears and its "oh oh" wish i were fred flinstone and could ram foot through floorboards. It was okay in past two weeks but now weak. is this in need of bleeding?

RE: Some test drive questions
On the car stalling, have you checked your fuel filter?? If you are running the factory setup there is a filter that screws right into the carb. I had a 302W mustang that did this. You could start it up and it would run fine you could hammer on it and everything was OK, then when cruising at 35-45 mph it would just up and die. After a few minutes it would start back up and run OK for a while again. Finally replaced that filter and never had another problem.
As for the brakes disappearing when the engine des, I'm guessing that you have power brakes and when the engine dies you lose the vaccuum boost for the brakes. Fix the engine problem and this will be fixed too.

Hmm.. Do the brakes go away before the engine stalls or after?
Ifthe pedal gets hardafter the engine stops turning, and you have power brakes, this would be normal.
If the pedal gets hard before the engine stalls, then the brake booster may be broken, andmaybe asource of a big vacuum leak, possibly causing yourstalling issues.
