the holley commander 950 tbi works great and its around 1400.00 and bolts to your carbed intake, it takes some tuning but works well.

That's what I said too. If the carb ran fine in warm weather but runs poorly in cold, then you're too lean, jet it up, and maybe increase the pump shot if throttle response is weak.

If you do go EFI, don't bother with a TBI setup, since you might as well stay carb in that case. TBI has many of the disadvantagesof a carb(wet flowing intake), but no advantages other than increased metering accuracy, which depending on the carb you have mayonlybe marginally better. If you are going to go EFI and have a good system that makes good power, plan on spending money, unless you build a Megasquirt.

Remember you get what you pay for, especially with cars. And one of carbs advantages is cost, since a comparably performing EFI setup costs about 10 times what a carb does, unless you build one(aka Megasquirt).

If you wanna do Megasquirt you can post in the 5.0 section for Adder to respond, he uses Megasquirt and knows his stuff very well.

I'm doing a complete EFI conversion and don't plan on spending over $700....

It can be done even cheaper, but I'm doing the buid on a heavily modified 347... so it's going to cost a bit more..
