Im going to replace my valve covers again, the first time I did, I dropped my oil. Is this necessary?

+1. Just out with the old and in with the new. I would use new gaskets though.

yeah and if u want to be fancy, you can go with rubber gaskets instead of the cork.

If the gaskets you have on now are cork, be very careful when removing/scraping them off or you could get some small pieces down into the oil pan.
