RE: pros and cons
347 will make more power compared to a stock 351. the crank specs on a 347 is almost identicle to a chevy 350, so if u build a 347, youre pretty much building a 350. i was gonna build a 347 for my stang but decided to go back to the stock setup. but my next motor will deffinately be a stroker motor.
you can stroke the 351 to a 408 and make buttloads of power. if u keep it stock bore, itll last longer than the 347 because, well, its stock.
if you go with the 347 with afr heads, a nice cam, headers, good carb+intake, you can make about 430hp. which is plenty for the street.
ive never looked into a 351 so i dont know much about em. i just know alot about 347s cause i was planning on building one for a couple months now just up unitl a few weeks ago i changed my mind .

The 347 motor has a .030 overbore and an additional 0.4 inches of stroke giving a bore and stroke of 4.030 x 3.4. The The stock 351W motor has a stoke bore and stroke of 4.00 x 3.5. At 0.030 overbore, the 351 has a displacement of 357 cu. in. Right there you have 10 cu in more and you can do all of the other mods like cam, heads, intakes and on and on to the 351 and you haven't paid for a stroker crank, rods, pistons, etc. In my opinion, you canbuild a 351W to make as much or morepower than a 347 for less money.

everything depends on what you want to do a 347 will make more power compared to the stocker 351 b/c of ci if you change the cam lifters porting and stuff like that. the 347 will yield about 320-340 hp ~300rwhp +/- with stock parts from the 302 placed back on (ie intake heads cam) to reach those levels with a 351 with far far greater torque change the cam .450+ intake dual plane for torque, and single for higher rev and higher RPM band HP. If you want to save some money, just home port your heads..it does take a while but you'll notice some gains. or if you got some $$$ laying around look into patriot/ AFR with 185cc heads
