Radio Wiring
I'm trying to hookup my radio and am not having much success. I've attached two pics. One shows the working power source I'm trying to tap into, but I get nothing. Do I have to ground one of the 2 "plugs" coming from the radio?

When wiring my stereo I used the wiring diagram in the sticky.
A couple words of wisdom. Run a new power wire from the battery to the HU, that stock wiring an fusing is not meant for the current of a newer DIN style CD player.
I can assure you that the power wire on that connector is great as the ACC on for the stereo. I think i the the other wire on the connector is ground, but you will want to double check with the diagrams or get out the multimeter.

You need 12V power to the radio lead, 12V power to the radio's light bulb, the ground is from the car chasis, so the radio must be installed into the dash to work, or you need to run a test ground wire to the radio while it's out of the dash to complete the circuit. the other wires run to the speakers. You should also connect the radio antenna lead in order to pick up a signal while testing.Need more info, e-mail me: tailgunners@verizon.net. Denny
The radio will not work unless its grounded either to the dash or run a wire from the radio to a good ground!!You will need a 12V source of power for the radio which should work where you are plugging it in.I believe your problem is the Ground!![sm=signs003.gif]
Use a testlight to see if it is actually getting 12V.

I also had a question about this that might help him. Is it true that the radio's 12V switched lead doesn't need to be all that powerful? in other words, I'll run the 12V hot (all the time) from the battery, and the 12V switched. Should the stock 12V switched wire be able to hold up to a mildly powerful system?

The speaker wires have 4 colored wires, one for each speaker and a single black wire- which is the ground. So if plug in the 2 prongs into the yellow power source, and run a ground wire from the single shared black wire in the speaker pigtail, this should solve the problem?
