351C vs 400M bolt ons
Not being familar with Fords I have a question. Will the Alternator, power steering, etc from a 400M bolt up to a 351 Cleveland? I finally found a C4 bell housing for a cleveland. So which would be better, A 400M with a C6 or a 351C with a C4 in a 67 coupe. OR with the gas situation use the orginal 6 with a C4. Is there a difference between a C4 from a 6 cylinder and a V8 C4?which would be of higher value seeing I have to sell it when it is done? Not enough room.

I don't know about the brackets. I know that the M engine has a higher deck height than the C, so I would expect that some of the brackets will work to some degree and could be made to work with some ingenuity and mods.
I am not for sure that a C-6 will fit in a 67 without modifying the floor for clearance, but I am inclined to think it just might fit with some minimal clearancing.
Well if you were going to keep it, I would say that it might be fun to try the M motor just to be original, and to boot, the M engines made avery strongshowing in Popular Hot Rodding's "Pump Gas Shootout".
Since you have to sell the car I would say go with the Cleveland and the C-4 setup simply for the ease of getting parts and Assembly. (The M and C-6 will be a bitch, you will need to fab a lot of stuff including all of the motor/tranny mounts).
Iusually think V-8,but,,, amildly built 6, with overdrive, and some 4.11 gears would be a kick to driveand mightbe very easy to sell when the current gas prices are considered.
The 6-cylinder C-4s are virtually identical to the 8 models, except that they are built to lower power standards. They have fewer and lighter clutches and somewhat downgraded parts in certain key locations. However, they can be rebuilt to stock V-8 standards and then some.

if your building the m you need some new flattop pistons cause the stock dished one will kill power. and check out www.ausfordparts.com

I believe that most 400 and 351M bothhavea big block (429/460)tranny bolt pattern. You might want to check that before getting the C6.

The 400 has a C6 on it. I just got a bell hsg for the 6 cyl c4 I have for the 351 cleveland. so I have 3 choices:351c with a C4:400m with a C6 or the orginal 6 cyl with a c4. Or be really weird and put in a SBC chevy. I have five of them.
