you say you adjusted the choke.
Did it happen before as well ?

Check if the choke plate is fully open (vertical) when the engine is warm. when the thing is closed it won't breathe.
Popping when decellerating is usually a sign of lean mixture. Do you get it while cruising, accellerating or when you release the throttle (decellerating) ?

Okay, so i keep hearing that I need to change to electronic ignition. Will do. What setup should I get? Summit has a kit for like 65 bucks but I just found this:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/FORD-...spagenameZWDVW

Should I go with the HEI or something else?

I just added the Pertronix Electronic Ignition (Ignitor) for a Ford V-8. It does not replace the dizzy, dizzy cap, or rotor. It just replaces the points and condenser. Takes about 3 minutes to install.

I paid $79.95 my local auto store, in stock. You can also run it with their Flame Thrower coil but I haven't really looked into that part....

Alright fellas I've figured it out. 68 coupe with 5.0 and comp 274 cam etc etc. Anyway I had the same problem, it woiuld pop under load conditions but not in neutral or park. I have had a well respected 5.0 guy out here take a look at it and he said it was all in tune and running fine. we threw it on the dyno and it ran fine not lean or rich. i floored it and he heard the popping. IF YOU ARE LIKE ME AND DO ALL THESE MODIFICATIONS, NEW CAM HIGH END CARB, FUEL PUMP HEADS PISTONS ETC.ETC YOU HAVE TO GET AN MSD BOX!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

THAT WAS MY PROBLEM THE WHOLE TIME. I WAS RUNNING A "STOCK" DISTRIBUTOR WITH THE PERTRONIX BOX AND THATS WHAT CAUSED THE POPPING. THE MSD SYSTEM CORRECTS ALL OF THAT THANKS A MILLION
