Default oil pressure reading

Just bought a 68 coupe 6 cylinderfor the wife and trying to keep it running without blowing it up. question is - the oil gage is readingall theway to the left while the car is running. The reading on the dip stick is one quart low. Is this a problem and if so what is the remedy?

low oil pressure normally comes from worn rod and main bearing. I would drop the pan and replace them it not a difficult job in these old stangs. I would also change the oil pump while your in there they don't cost to much and droping the pan is 3/4 of that job anyways.

but try installing a machical gage first to rule out a bad gage or sensor.

Are you hearing any ticking or knocking noises from the engine? Hook up a manual gauge asap and see what you really have.

+3 on the issue. It may just be a gauge issue, but you need to chck for a noisy engine and mechanical pressure. Throw a quart of cheap oil in there just to be safe.
