Default 69 Mustang Coupe Sputtering

I have a 69 mustang 302. Every time that i accelerate it sputters and then takes off. I know that the vaccume on the distrubitor is bad and i am going to replace it just woundering if there is anything else that ould cause it to sputter. thank you

When the accelerator pump on the carburetor goes bad it will make that exact same problem. Easiest way to check is, with the motor not running, look down the carburetor and actuate the linkage with your hand. Every time you do you should see an extra squirt of gas go in to the carb. This squirt is there to compensate for the sudden change in butterfly position. As the ventury effect catches up with the flow rate the extra fuel is no longer needed and that is why after a second the sputter goes away.

Will the vaccume advance on the Distrubitor make it to where the accelerator pump will not work properly?

a bad vacuum advance and bad accelerator pump would be different issues.

Get the distributor fixed first and see what happens. That should be the problem but you won't know until it is fixed. Semper Fi!
