Really bad problem 66 coupe

i dont knw about the gas but i think it might have been part of the problem, but not all of it, changing the points really made the difference, but new gas isnt a bad idea.

pretty sure the points were the problem. I had the exact same thing happen to me. The points were adjusted, but there is the plate in the distri that is moved by the vacuum advance. This came loose at some stage. I bolted the thing down with 2 screws. That fixed it. Then I got a new distributor ... the problemdescription on my side was the exact same.

I had this problem in my 78 F100. I had to keep it in high rpms to keep it going and wasn't a smooth running engine it was real jumpy. You should check your plugs along with checking your points. 2 of my plugs went bad while driving (dont know how but its fine now) and it was all screwed up. The timing was off and only 2 cylinders on one side were firing. Try checking/replacing the plugs.

check your fuel filter as well, probably a combo of stuff
