3 sp ****er
I would like to add a better aftermarket shifter to my 67 coupe. Have been thinking about the Hurst HU5010002. Summit has it for $130 has anyone used this shifter or is there anything else I should be looking at.

i have same problem i have 67 coupe, 3 speed. i bought a BORDWARRNER 4 speed but havnt installed it yet so sorry cant help u too much till i put it in. i have a ? for you ivehave had this 1967 mustang for about 4 years. been drving it for 2 year. and i need toknow what the REDLINE would be? it is a new289 block with new302 heads on it. i am kinda guessing it is 5500 RMPs. i have never had it that high, becouse i dont no. whats your redline at?
I have a 3sp as well and honestly I'd recommend saving your money towardsa 4sp or 5sp tranny. The 3sp flat out sucks. You can improve the shifting with a Hurst shifter, but you can't fix the gearing.
If you're irritated with the sloppy shifter, pick up a 4sp (not 3sp) shifter rebuild kit and rebuild it. The 4sp shifter has different side bushingswith springs that help eliminate rattling. It makes a world of difference. I did this a year ago and am really happy with the results. It's only $20 or so and it's something you can easily do yourself.

..i highly advise the 4 spd shifter rebuild kit..it is a huge improvement over the 40 year old stuff..and not that hard to do...
