Default cowl cost

i've seen several responses here about how expensive cowl repair is. the parts don't look to be that much and the job doesn't look to be too complicated. involved, difficult, and time consuming yes. what am i missing? where does all this expense come from?

I would recomend fixing the cancer in your cowl but you could fill in your cowl with patch panels.
