Default 65 Instrument bezel

I am replacing the original instrument bezel and lens in my 65 coupe. I plan to reuse the guages and speedometer. Besides removing the speedometer cable first and then the 6 screws to remove the bezel, is there anything else that I should (tips, etc.) know about on how to do this before I get started? I'm assuming it is fairly simple?

did the same on mine last year.

2 tips for you:
before you start with those screws in the front, get rid of the speedo cable in the back of the instrument cluster.
if you lie face up where your accelerator and brake pedals are, you'll see it coming from the front to the back of the cluster.
It's very awkward sometimes to put it back in. Any trouble let me know.

if you take it all apart, don't get the idea of wiping the face (the black plate where the numbers are printed on) with a cloth.
I started and I wiped the numbers all over the thing. Luckily I realised this very early.
So DO NOT attempt to clean the gauge faces with a cloth. The numbers will come off otherwise.

All I can tell you is to make sure you know where all the wires go before tearing it apart, other than that its a straight up job!If you want to make it simple mark the back of each gauge with a # and wrap the wires corresponding to that gauge with a small piece of masking tape with the same# on it and you will know exactly how it goes back together!Good Luck with it!

While you're at it, get some red paint and paint the needles in the guages. They're probably faded after 43 years.

I didn't have any problems with the numbers wiping off, I cleaned mine up real good.

Finally got around to installing my new benzel. It turned out great. Thanks for the hints and advice especially taking the speedometer cable off first. I did find that the white numbers would have rubbed off so I left it alone. Otherwise everything went smoothly. Thanks again to everyone that posted.

nice! it's such a difference. Especially in the night when the blue/green light from the cluster reflects in the chrome
