Default What's the deal with this door?

I've put it off to the end...and now I know why! I am reassembling my door internals... got the latches installed, striker..everything went together like a breeze..NOW the problem: if I close the door completely, the handle button/lock ****/interior handle won't open the door. They won't "trip" the door latch. If I push in on the door, it will spring open. If I just close it n the first click, everything works fine. Is it closing too "tight", putting it in a bind? Anyone have experience with this? Any advice would be appreciated!

Yeah, sounds like it is adjusted too tight and the latch is binding to the point that you have to add some external pressure to releave that excess prressure and the the latch works. Try loosening the latch plate and re-adjusting a bit. Keep working it this way until the door closes flush and the latch will open the door without the extra outside pressure.

I had the same problem to. Mine was that the rod that is attached to the latch from the door handle was out of adjustment. I kept adjusting it until it started working.

my guess would be the same as LCCs. If you can open the door by pushing against it, it can't be too tight ...

[align=left]+1. Happened to me when I was putting everything back together. Except my door was latched closed and it was a b!tch to get it unlatched. It's the rod.

Great, I'll keep an eye on this thread as this is one of my summer projects. Reassembly the door internals. Not looking forward to it. After seeing what it was like to dis-assemble, I hope I cankeep it all straight.

another thing. I broke a few plastic retainsers by putting it together. At the same time those rollers in the window regulator scissor was gone. maybe an idea to replace them all at the same time. they're like a dollar each and you can get them at NPD for example ...
I'm ordering them now, had to manufacture a workaround out of plastic and rubber and stuff back then ... works, but probably not long ...
Nothing worse when you can't put it all together because your missing a tiny plastic pimple ...

Well, it was actually the latch. It is a repro, and seems it had too much "slop" in it. I was able to snug it up by bradding the rivet. Work great now. Kalli...thanks for the advice. I actually changed out both regulators and scissor assemblies. What a treat to completely build out the doors from mere shells...BUT it's done!

My handles were repops as well and I had to tinker with them too. Seems like alot of the repops needed a little work. Brake light switch, window cranks, and a few other things didn't "slide right in".
