you can install a tee in both the high pressure and return hoses, then install a needle valve between them, this will allow you to bleed off some of the pressure and make the power steering not so "powered"

htwheel, do you have pictures of that? do you have a needle valve on each line, or are they conected together by the needle valve?

You can't run powersteering without a pump. The powersteering valve is designed to direct fluid to the ram, one direction or the other. If youput that much pressure on the ball stud in the valve without fluid it will come apart, then you will be along for the ride!

I made my own 20 years ago on a cougar but go to www.performanceonline.com and search part#18580 its a readymade valve just for that purpose.
