just a guess... you will need better parts to run very much boost at all. i believe that most stock engines that are built to be naturally aspirated can only stand about 9psi. that would give you pretty good power though. and the best part is that you would have a total custom, and you get to experience boost. turbos are the best thing ever created for the engine IMHO. lol.

keep in mind tho, if you are making v8 power, you will still have to do some of the upgrades: rear end, brakes, etc...

You need to build your engine up to handle the pressure so once you do that you could done but a small block and did everything to swap it in.Unless you want to be different get a small block.

Friend of mine over on fordsix has hit 18psi with his turbocharged I6. He's got significant power. I keep telling him though that it's luck and one day it's just going to explode into peices.

Build the bottom for durability and the top for speed. Yes, a turbo is possible. There's also a new Aluminum head that Mike from www.classicinlines.com offers - awesome bolt on. You can run fuel injection, or NOS, or whatever you want, but it's going to have to be built to handle it.

Thank goodness for 7 main bearings though

Yup, It's better than a V8 swap I would say. You will have to put disc brakes in the front to make it safer for you and an upgraded rear end wouldn't hurt and is pretty much necessary. A guy on the fordsix forums had a turbo on a completely stock I6 and accidently went to 20psi. I think the only thing he did was bust a few rings...he safely ran over 10psi though I think.

JE dished pistons would be great.

If you want, keep the stock head, the new head for $1,800 adds 50 hp I think. Keep the stock head a 1v carb or have it milled for a 2v carb.

don't bother having the engine bored, it doesn't help much.

many of the info is over on fordsix.com but you need to register read the forums..... I plan on having my engine done in the spring of 2009. best of luck to you.

It's possible to do it and go very fast! How about 11.85 in the quarter. (10.95 sec @ 124 mph even faster now!!! 400HP!!!!)

He's on leading edge of I6 engineering.

WOOOOOOOOW!!! ya, if i had an i6 i would go that way. Everyone has v8's, which is okay, but I would love to have something unique. Not only would you get better gas mileage if you dont let the turbo spool, but driving a turbo car is so much fun. My DD has a turbo, and its like nothing else when it hits boost.

If i were in your position, I would at least do some research to figure out how much it would cost.
