Default Cylinder Heads Questions

I have a 289 block with cast iron302 2V heads on them. The engine is mixing oil and coolant so either it's a head gasket problem or a creacked head. I'm getting the heads checked today (already pulled them off). If the heads are cracked would it be better to replace them with aluminum 5.0 heads (might be able to buy a pair for 300). I also have some 351C heads I may be able to put on, if I put on the 351 C heads would they bolt right up to the block? Would I have to change anything to get the 351C heads to fit? Or what heads are the best for the money?

Thanks

351 C heads are not an easy swap.... The aluminum 5.0 heads sound like a pretty good deal on the surface....

Any Idea of what kind of heads these might be?

99% chance that the 300.00 aluminum heads are gonna kick the crap outta stock heads. the only way you could really loose is if they are damaged.

are you sure that the intake gaskets werent the problem? we had a gm truck that the intake gaskets were leaking coolant into the oil, at customers request we installed new gaskets but the truck returned 4 months later with main bearing failure, no doubt caused by the coolant mixing with the engine oil,

5.0 heads are roller cam so you will have to change some things to make them work.

351C heads require different pistons because the valves are in different locations. You also have to use a special manifold on the intake and 351C exhaust.

thats bad info right there.

you will not have to change anything because "5.0 heads are roller cam". you will however, have to use the newer style rocker arms that came off the 5.0 heads - but thats just stock, most everything aftermarket uses stud style rockers anyways.
