Default Throttle linkage problem

I've just recently really gotten into working on my classic Mustang - I have a '68 that's running on all stock engine parts, and have recently been experiencing a problem where the throttle linkage rod pulls out of the fastener and disconnects. This has just started to happen recently, and I can't quite figure out what's going on - the only thing that I can think of is the the engine is actually knocking the rod around at higher RPMs, or from a jolt. I was thinking about creating a custom linkage, but a straight rod doesn't seem like it would work for me. I've tried bending the rod to fit a little better, but the damn thing still pops out. Has anyone had this happen before? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I would try to crimp it (IIRC) on. If that doesn't fix it - replace it! I have had a WOT stick - badbadbad...

The other thing you could do is to drill a small hole and put a cotter pin in. It would keep it from popping out.

If the engine is moving around that much you better check your motor mounts!

Chances are one is broken, loose, or pulled apart at the rubber.....

On one car, I put a groove in the rod with a pair of cutters and pushed on an E-clip. X2 on checking the motor mount too.
