1971 Mustang
I need help with my 71 Mustang. I've been told the "Sportsroof" option on the 1971 means its the Mach I if it has the Q code in the vin number. Is this correct or is the sportsroof body style different from a Mach I. I'm trying to sell it and don't want to misrepresent what it is. It says its a Mach Ion the body itself but I'm not 100% sure its a real Mach I. The vin # is 3F02Q216539. Thanks for any info you can provide.

Sportroof is another name for fastback which is the body style.Decoding that vin only its a 73 take everything on the door tag enter it here http://www.mustangdecoder.com/plates.html#1971 the mach 1 trim can be added to a car that ain't one the door tag don't lie.The mach1 was only made as a sportroof but you could get a sportroof mustang thats not a mach1.

The Q in your vin refers to your engine with is a 351CJ. This engine was available in any mustang in 1973.
