Default Axle positioning for 67 Coupe

I'm putting a 67 Coupe back together and I'm working on the rear end. I replaced old leaf springs, shackles and swapped the original 2.8 open with a 3.55 posi. I have the springs back in with the axle up on jack stands. I have a tab on the top of the springs to lock the axle, but there are two holes on the axle plates; do I put the tab in the middle hole, or the other hole on the axle plate? I know it is a bonehead question, but I cannot find the answer for my self anywhere! I would asume it goes in the middle hole, but Ford had some reason to put two holes on the plate.... I don't want to tear everything apart again if I guess wrong!

I bought aftermarket spring plates for mine and they only had the single hole. Not sure about the two holes. I would use the center hole and everything should line up. You should replace the ubolts too as they stretch over time and weaken. It seems to me it can go together only one way...I wouldn' think the ubolts would line up if the spring plate is off.

Myne is the same way, when i got it the guy left the springs on it and the tab was in the middle hole. but like he said it should only go on one way.
