69' horsepower help
Back in the olden days (1973) I put headers and a Holley 4 bbl on my 69 351Wand the difference was really noticable...and it had a stock 4bbl to begin with. A good carburator and headers will make a big difference at relatively low cost and effort. Produces a lot of noise too.
My son andI are presenty looking at doing a few small upgrades to our '65 w/302 an T-10. We are going to be replacing the heads (ours need an overhaul anyway and this is cheaper than having it done), slapping on a 4bbl and some headers and Thrush glasspacks.
Back whenmyballs were bigger andbrain smaller, I fitted some headers to my 351C
and modified the stock 4 barrel carb. The car already had dual exhausts so I just added
some glasspacks and removed the stock mufflers. It made a huge difference. Whereas I
could only spin the wheels in 1st with the stock setup ( 4 speed ), with the mods
I could easily have them spinning in 2nd. The wheels by the way were 9" 12 slotters
with 265 tires on the back. It revved out much better and felt better all round, not
to mention the sound.........[8D]
So I vote for the headers and a 4 barrel.
