Interior questions
I've got a few interior questions for you guys
. On a 67's backseat, is there anything that physically holds it in place? On the bottom half there are braces on the floorboard that stop it in place, and the upper half kinda slides into another set of braces, but are there no bolts or anything to hold it down? What are the 2 metal loops for then on the bottom of the upper half (I have pics if need be)? I can remove my rearseat in under a minute and I just didnt want it shifting around or anything....
Also, I glued something to my ceiling about 2 weeks ago for heat insulation reasons but tore it off today becuase I dont feel the glue was strong enough and will fall off down the line. The heat insulation is practically weightless, but what could I use to make it stick for GOOD! I have a bottle of PVC cement that I was considering[8D]
Also, I need to buy a package tray. For the generic fiberboard units that most places sell, can they be painted and not look like crap. They appear to be brownish and that would not match my all black interior...

i know on a 66 back seat the top part slips into two metal brackets near the package tray and then slips in the bottom part of the seat. i have the fiberboard package tray that was brownish in color and i painted the bottom part black and wrapped the top part in black leather
I'm thinking they are a couple of bolts that hold the back part down. You should hook it first making sure it slides down an inch or so, then there should be two loops in the metal frame that you run bolts thru to hold it in place. Look to see if any holes line up.I think the seat part has a couple of hooks for the front part and after they are hooked, you just push down and it has a couple of spring hickies that hold it. I hope this is right, a photo would help me remember. On the insulation, I would use 3M spray (super) adheisive. Its a contact type and you will have to coat both parts and let it dry untill it doesen't stick to your hand, then place where you want it with firm pressure. The bond is instant.
Jessie, pics!
Evil, Ill check the store for the 3m stuff. I was at Walmart the other night when I picked up the adhesive spray there. I didnt see anything in the automotive section but there was stuff called "Craft bond" in the craft area. That stuff still worked good for the heat insulation on my firewall as I needed to move it around a bit to get a good fit, and "instant contact" would not of worked. Does that 3m stuff spray out in strings (best way to describe it) instead of a mist? My old carpet was glued down and I could tell it had a "stringy dispersion[8D]". That carpet was on so damn good I ripped it in pieces pulling it out...
I have sound deadening in the cabin and may have covered over the bolt holes, but I was careful to not do so. I took a screwdriver and felt around for the holes but couldnt find them. I'll go scoot under the rearend and see if there are in holes down there, as it would be easiest to see.

I meant I wanted to see pics of the leather wrapping...
Good news, I found the bolt holes. Bad news, they are about an inch inward of the brackets, so they dont line up for some reason?? I could scoot the seat sideways and get atleast 1 hole, but then the seat wouldnt be centered. I may rig something like a huge washer to overlap or drill a small hole.
I got spray from the store, not 3m but equivalent. I did half of what I need to do and the initial stick seems pretty good. I'll wait to see the end result before I do the other half.

On the contact adheisive, make sure it will handle temps up to around 180 as sometimes the top of the car can hit that. The 3M stuff comes out like strings and is yellowish. The super adheisivecost a little more but handles higher temperaturesthat maybe encountered onfirewall and hood and headliner insulation. 3M is just the brand name that I have used. I was thinking on those bolt holes, on a 68 that I built, I had to wack the mounts on the seat to get them to line up with the holes. Make sure the top is down good and even and thats not throwing you off.
The can says "extreme weather resistant". As to how "extreme", it doesnt say. I pulled at the corner of the first half of my heat insulation to test itand it was on there good, so I did the other half and by tomorrow it will be completely cured and wont be going anywhere. While I was at it I put my headliner rods in so now I just have to get the local upholstry shop to put me a nice headliner in....some day
.

I drilled new holes for the seat and got it all secure. Top half fits snug and I cant move it at all. Bottom half still loose if you push it back and then up, but for the most part its good. Wonder why they dont have little mounts too. I also layed down a layer of black fleece in the area of the seat that have gaps, so the shiny silver fatmat doesnt show through.

I'm going to make a list of some of the interior parts I still need, I'll keep a look out for those vinyl wrapped ones you mentiond.
