squeeking
I have a squueking noise coming from my 66 mustang 289 4 speed manual transmission. This is intermittent and only occurs at high rpm, over 60mph, or if I punch it. If Ilet off the accelerator, it goes away. I was told by the giy I had bought it from that the clutch had just been replaced. (That was 9 months ago). Hopefully this is due to a belt. Could it be the water pump bearing is bad? Or do is this indicative of the throwout bearing? What do you think I am looking at for repair? Give me some good news. Please! Thanks......Dave
t/o bearing is easy to recognise. it usually makes a complete different sound when parking in idle and clutch is pressed/not pressed.
is it related to rpm (as in the higher the rpm, the higher the pitch) ?
can you reproduce it when standing, just revving the engine ?

It happens usually when I am on the highwayand after going 60-65 and accelerating it will start squeeking. After removing my foot of of the gas, it will stop. Hasn't ever done it in neutral, however, if I start it and punch the gas it will occur ocassionally. Usually it is intermittent, usually happens while on the highway at high rate of speed/ rpmonly. Don't have a tack, so don't know the exact rpm. Thanks
