suspension swap
hello all, heres what i got. besides bad typing skills, 71 mustang has manual drum brakes on front and i want to swap to power disc , i have a 76 granada that has power disc on it and was wondering if it will bolt right in without modifications, i havent torn either down yet, they both appear to be the same, 5 lug etc. just wondering if anybody else has done this or might know off hand, dont wanna do alot of extra work if it will not work. thanks in advance for your toughts on this

differinces?? The geometry is the same for the spindles. You may need to use Granada tie rods, may be able to use the ones on your stan not sure on the later year Mustangs. What other info were you looking for??
Hey man, i did a disc brake swap on mine too. I used granada spindles (they are exactly the same as factory disc mustand spindles) but you should get a new or rebuilt booster and master cylinder. Any parts store should be able to get it for you. The brake hoses are completly different for the front alos. The disc hoses have the brackets made to them, while the drum hoses dont. I couldn't get the disc hoses anywhere, so I just had some hoses made with the disc end on one end and the drum end on the other. This allowed me to use the drum brackets instead of having to order the expensive replacements from NPD. Just so you know, the brake pedal itself is different (the pin where the booster rod attaches is about a half inch lower) and there is a plate that goes on the inside of the firewall that you will have to trim to clear the booster. Also, the pedal braket is slightly different. The drum pedal braket has the 4 holes threaded and has studs that screw into them with nuts in the engine compartment (2 hold on the drum master cylinder, and 2 that just tighten up against the firewall) The good news is that onc you remove the studs, all of the holes are in the right place s you just have to drill out the threads. Once you do this, the booster will slide right on and you put the nuts on the inside on the pedal bracket. But you MUST change the pedal to a power disc style for it to line up with the booster rod. (You can keep the original bracket if you just drill out the threads that were for the studs) I know this sounds like a lot, but it really isn't bad at all. I'd say go for it. It's one of the best mods you can do to an ld mustang.
