But I do know to stay away from Fram filters. I use Mobile One 10W30 in my 1966 289. I change it (and the Ford filter) twice a year. I switched to it about 15,000 miles ago and with a well-worn, high-mileage vintage Ford engine. I noticed an immediate improvement. I highly recommend it.

i use mobil 15w50 syn race oil in my 69 351w i can tell a diff during start up.
i had a lifter that would tick a little till it got oil to it but it does not do it now,i just started my car up sunday it has set in storage since oct of last year and bam it started and had plenty of oil psi and no tick no smoke at all the best oil i have seen in a long time .
i know it is not cheep but i think it is worth it and by the way napa filters are made by wix filters i use wix on all my trucks at work and i mean tractor trailers but is it worth it to buy the best for your car i think it is,my car has 139,000 miles on it now and does not use any oil since i switched it over 2 years ago whitch has been about 4500 miles

I assume you're replying to the original poster (trying to sway him from Fram filters).
Here's an abreviated version of that study (of the Fram in question):
"Fram Extra Guard PH8A - ...cardboard end caps that are glued in place. The rubber anti-drainback valve seals the rough metal backplate to the cardboard end cap and easily leaks, causing dirty oil to drain back into the pan. If you have a noisy valve train at startup, this filter is likely the cause. The bypass valves are plastic and are sometimes not molded correctly, which allows them to leak. The backplate has smaller and fewer oil inlet holes, which may restrict flow..."

Fram filters were very good filters for years. But, like many other products, once they became very popular, the quality took a dive. Today, they are at the bottom of the barrel as far as quality. As has been mentioned, Motorcraft is one of the best filters for our Mustangs. Wix is also a top rated filter.
