Default Vehicle condition?

Where exactly are the frame rails, torque boxes and rocker panels on my 66 convertible? Where are they and what do I need to be looking at in determining the condition of these items? Hey I'm a girl - I don't know these things.
Thank you guys![:-]

Your frame rails & torque boxes are located underneath your stang. Look behind your front tires at the floor boards u will see a metal box these are your front torque boxes. Take a screwdriver & pick at these boxes 2 see if they r solid. Do the same to floor pans. Go to rear of stang in front of therear tiresunderside u will see rear frame rails check them the same way. If they r not rusted through u r in good shape, u have good metal not rusted through. Beleive me I've had some rust buckets thatv I had 2 replace all kinds of sheet metal & torque boxes LOL

Bob answered the torque box question. The frame rails are the long channel looking rails that support the body. The rocker panels are the areas underneath your doors. Along with checking the torque boxes and rocker panels, check your trunk area. Another rust trouble spot is the front bottom of your doors. And, as Bob mentioned, the floor pans because most Mustangs have rotten cowls, and water has leaked onto the floor for years, causing a soggy carpet, and thus the rust. Also take the trunk liner out and visually look for the ever present brown rust. You need to scrape, sand, bead blast, wire brush or whatever method you choose to get those areas down to clean shiny metal, then prime and paint them. For underneath, you will need to do the same. Then finish by painting it with Red Oxide paint you can get from National Parts Depot. Let us know what rust you find, how far gone it is, and where it is.

Tonight? You must have one very powerful flashlight. I would jack the car up and put 4 jack stands under it on the frame rails, then check for rust in the light of the day.
