Default Heater Box Removal

I've posted similar issues before, but now an update question. I'm having "issues" with the two hoses to the heater box. I've loosened the clamps but the the hoses are locked onto the heater. Short of cutting them off, how can I get them off? I need to remove the hoses to get at the bolts holding the heater box to the firewall.

Any thoughts? Would a heat gun work to loosen them up? (Provided I had a heat gun.) I've got to imagine that there is a easier way to get them off. Thanks.

If they are original hoses I'd cut and replace them. Depending on their shape you may want to do that anyways. That said, if you are going to reuse them then start pulling hard! I've used a heatgun before and its helped sometimes and sometimes not.

Now is the time to replace the hoses. Try using channel locks and gripping the hose and twisting, that might help. Also, the only bolts that hold the box to the fire wall you can get to from the engine compartment. They are around the heater blower motor.

Cut a small slit (about an inch) in the hose (parallel to its length) then peel it off the heater core. You may have enough length left to reconnect. But, if they are very old, replacing them is very cheap.

Big pair of channel locks...

There are4 nuts that need to be removed in the engine bay, and 1 screw under the dash, and it should come out...atleast on my 67.

On my 66 I would remove the hoses from the engine and then just pull them out with the box I dont remember then blocking access to any fasteners. The 4 on the firewall and then one down by the dash I think.
