Default Speedometer / Cable Problem

OK. Speedometer and odometer don't work. I had to replace some cluster lights so while I had the instrument panel out I drove the car to see if the cable end was rotating. It was. So, I bought another speedometer that "worked", hooked it up, and it didn't work either. I'm assuming that if the cable end is rotating the speedometer should work. Any chance that I am wrong???

Default RE: Speedometer / Cable Problem

The gear might be stripped in the tranny. I think mine spins also, but my speedo just goes wacko right now. I'm going to try and replace my old speedo gear sometime, but for now my tach is a pretty decent speedometer.
