Default Manual steering upgrade on a 65 T code

oh, heres what I have. I am restoing a 65 Fastback and would like to redo the steering. It has a high ratio box that takes like 5+ turns on the wheel to go from left to right. Kinda like trying to close a watertight door. Thats too much. I plan on upgrading the upper and lower's, struts, and perchesto rollersand/or TCP's. Now what do I do with the steering. It has the good ole solid column and these things scare me (shish kabob comes to mind). Now for cost control, I would like not touse a $2000+ rack although it would be the easist. I have a 67 and 68 front steering power set up but am not sure it will work (too wide?). Power steering may be a must. Also on the spindles, I have a set of C6's off a 67 or 8 and am wondering if these will work. They are drum units but my Wilwood brackets are drilled for them. The only difference is the arm that moves the spindle being about 1/2 short. I would like to use up what I have and buy only the minimum. Ideas?

Here's a few ideas....how to install a later model column in a 65. Uses a short shaft 67 box, which a rebuilt can be had for around 200.

All new tie rods, drag link, etc. Also a great improvement is a roller Idler arm from Opentracker.com. All adds up to a pretty nice setup.

I'm going 5 lug and a 302 V8. I've tried to call Open Tracker all week with no answer. I would love to use up the 67 and 68 stuff. Scott, when you say set up correctly can you add some more detail. I also have Granada spindles as well (4 sets of disc). What would you guys do? I need a detailed recipe.
