Default light Problems

When I have the rightturn signal on and hit the brakes, the right turn signal light turns to a steady on light. Also, when I put the car in reverse the backup lights work fine but when I turn the left or rght turn signal on the backup lights flash (both of them) and there are no turn signal lights working. I have the instrument cluster out - would that cause any of this? I traced wiring in the rear and did find and repair a broken ground wire so now both my brake lights work, but all the other probems are still there. I'm glad I stopped drinking a long time ago

Seeing that the reverse lights are not part of the turn signal/brake system, I would say you have an issue with a ground in the back of the car..

Sorry, but I'm not following you. If there was a bad ground, wouldn't I be having problems with the lights when they are used separately? All lights work properly as long as there is no combination of lights being used. Once the combination hits, the lights that used to work start not to work.

Most problems like this can be traced to the turn siganl switch. The back up lights don't go through there so that is a mistery. I would say put you dash back in to see if that is affecting it and go from there.
