Default Any ideas?

Well with tax returns and my credit cards payed off im ready to spend some money.... So im looking at the suspension and trans of my 72 Coupe. I will hopefully have my engine build done in a few weeks and i know my old C4 just wont last long with 300-350 hp because the thing is so old and has never been rebuilt (177-277k miles on it but i dont know...) So my first question is.. well what should be done about this? are there any good replacements for the C4 all together that are stronger and would perhaps not be too much trouble to get in and out or should i just rebuild it? My second question is i want to do a complete suspension overhaul and have not idea where to start. I should probably replace the old bushings with polyurithaine (sp?) but as far as shocks and the leaf springs go are there any good kits out there? I really have to lose the rear air shocks and everything is pretty well worn out as it is all original... the car is a 72 coupe and is powered by the good ol' 302. i dont need increadable cornering performance but making high speeds a little less scary is what im out to do... i really have no idea where to start with these issues... and of course i dont want to spend more than i have to.. thanks as always.

I have heard that a c4 with a good rebuild and some quality parts should handle lots of power for way less money than a brand new tranny.

a c4 can be rebuilt with common hand tool and some snap ring pliers nothing expensive needed as long as you keep it clean id try and build one the tci kit runs about 175$ so it will be a great learning experience its very simple one of the easiest trannys to build id buy a core tranny and go to town that way if it doesnt work you can get your rebuilt[8D]

Have you thought of an AOD tranny. There is a lot of help on the net. A good one to findon google.com Type in Hemmings (and) AOD Transmission and you will find a great article about them as well as install ideas, where to find parts ect.

I don't have my link handy where i am currently at otherwise i would send it to you

Since no one has gave any suspension advice so far, I'll chime in. If it were me and I could do it over again, I'd spend alittle bit more and go with a complete kit from www.opentrackerreacingproducts.com Good stuff there! I have his roller spring saddles up from.

If your looking for something alittle less expensive, I'd suggest looking at the suspension kits most Mustang vendors offer. I got mine from www.laurelmountainmustang.com so I didnt have to pay shipping, and they would work with you if you wanted to change something in the kit.

I got 5leaf mideye rear springs (little too stiff), harware and bushings, KYB shocks, U-bolts,and 3/4" swaybar for the rear. Up front I got upper and lower control arms with ball joints installed, 620 springs, spring saddles (later got rid of), 1" swaybar, export brace, bushings and hardware, KYB shocks. Thats pretty much everything and Im sure I forgot something. The kit came with steering parts too but I omitted them.

All came to $677
