Default Checking oil...

Hey,

It looks like a total newbie question but you have to admit that it changes from one car to another and people always have different opinions...

Should I check oil when the engine is warm or cold?

It basically shows low when cold and full when hot.

Thanks!

I don't know how it would show low when cold and full when hot. When the engine is hot, the oil is distributed throughout the engine/heads so it should read lower. When it's cool and it all drips into the pan, it should read higher.
