Default Brake line questin, loop?

I ordered a dual bowl master cyl. kit for my 66 off ebay. It is a 67 master cyl. and is supposed to come with the correct fittings to tie to the distribution block. One of the lines is wrong. I plan on contacting them tomorrow, but it I have problems I will have the line made myself. My question is, the old line had the loop formed in it and the kit did not. Is there any particular reason for the loop? Thanks. The kit was from Laurel Mountain Mustang, has anyone else ever done it?

yes the loop has 2 purposes:
a) brakelines often come as 4" 8" and so on pieces. So if you have to hook up something inbetween you would usually do a loop instead of cutting those to size.
b) the main reason: if you have a loop you have leeway for stretch and bend. especially when the conection is straight from point to point. the line itself is much more flexible than a straight one and will put less stress on the fittings

My stainless kit did not have a loop either and had no problems. I think the loop is suppose to help keep solid connectionif you get some flex in engine bay area.

Yes the loops are for flex and twist, to allow the lines to move safely without putting any stress on the lines. They can crack and the brakes can fail if this happens. Most new cars have loops all over the place to prevent this. Running a line from point A to point B without having these loops is a decision for you to make. Usually if the lines are left on the same attaching area it will be ok. But if you go from the mc that is on the firewall to the dist. block that is on the apron, there should be a loop in the path. my 2 cents for safety.

a bender for that is 10 quid.
if you can't make loops you can always make 'U's like that

For the loops, I wrapped the brake line around my halogen tripod stand. Made perfect round loops. Any dowel of the similiar size will work too.
