Got the 347 in today!!!
Well, I got my 347 put in my car today. I spent all day working on it and "remodeling" my transmission. I put a TCI Proshift valvebody and proshift servo in it, and then put in the 3000 stall converter and bolted it up to the motor. After finishing the final details I was able to fire it up and run it through break in procedure. When I started it, I feathered the throttle for a few seconds and then revved it to 2600 RPM and held it there for 40 minutes. Everything seemed to work out great. After it ran that long I idled it back down, and it does indeed have a nice little lope to it, a lot better than that POS edelbrock cam. The XE284H seems to have just the right sound to it. I didn't drive the car yet, I need to get some more additiive for the oil, and then change it before I drive it. I also have to fine tune the carb and the timing, as well as possibly adjust the valves with it idling. Anyway, I'll be sure to let you al know how it turns out when I get to actually drive it some!
Thats great now take it back out and give it to me.....lol...lol... can you let me know how that 3000 stall converter works out for you I am going to be geting a new one soon and I was thinking of puting a 3000 stall converter in but I do not know if it will be a good stall for me! I had a 3000 stall converter in my 70 camaro rs with a 350 and it was great! thanks

what??? unless it's a mech cam/ solid lifter or for that matter a chevy...that's an old school way and obselete when it comes to a hydraulic cam...all you have to do is set the lash to 0 and then pre load hydraulic lifters 1/4 to 1/2 turn past 0 lash
...anyway...glad to hear you got it running...hope it screams!!!weather down right sucks here!! rain for past week and more to come!!! haven't been able to get any miles on mine whatsoever!!![:@]
Well, I actually got to drive the car today! all I have to say is HOLY CRAP!!!!!! It absolutely rocks!!!! If Im at a dead stop and stand on it it will absolutely blister the tires right off, so I guess I need to work on traction now lol. It will frekin move!!! The 3000 stall is perfect for that cam, and the valvebody and servo also compliment it very nicely! The only problem now is that after about 15 miles, I got in it just a little and it blew the front pump seal out (dont know if it actualy came "out," but its leaking fluid). I babied it back to the shop really slowly and discovered the problem. I dont think it ver slipped, so it should be OK. The seal is really no big deal to fix, but I have to pull the headers off to get the tranny out which is kinda a pain. Anybody have any ideas as to why this could happen???
